10 Yoga Poses to Relieve Stress & Anxiety

All of us have experienced stress in way form or another. Whether it’s stress at work or anxiety about a big college exam, no one likes feeling the effects. There are many ways to relieve stress and get back to feeling more calm and centered. Yoga is a great way to do just that!

Yoga is creates a balance within oneself and relieves anxiety by turning your focus to your own breathing and body movements. Try the poses below to wash away your worst stress.

Child’s Pose (Balasana)

This pose helps to release neck, shoulder, and upper back strain. Additionally, it can help to calm the nervous system through steady, conscious breathing.

 

Extended Puppy Pose (Uttana Shishosana)

This pose calms your mind and lengthens the spine, releasing tension in the back.

A lot of emotional stress can be held in the hips. By performing a hip opener like this pose, you can help to release some of that stress and, in confronting those emotions, alleviate stress.
